3 Days Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Tour

Gorilla Trekking

Have a hefty breakfast and prepare yourself then head to the Park headquarters with your drinking water, packed lunch, walking stick, backpack and camera for a pre-tracking briefing before venturing into the dense jungles to search for the habituated gorilla family. Once sighted, you will spend only one hour with the family while taking photos and studying their remarkable behavior.

Go back to the Lodge for Lunch and if you still have energy, continue for a walk in the Batwa village. While here, you will get to experience their culture and see how these people make fire out of ordinary sticks, harvest honey and be entertained in their invigorating traditional dances. Dinner and overnight will be at Buhoma Lodge for luxury, Engagi Lodge for midrange or Buhoma Community Rest Camp for budget while the meal plan is full board.

Day 3: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi and visit to the Islands.

It is wise to enjoy a refreshing activity after your encounter with the critically endangered mountain gorillas and for day 3 you will continue to Lake Bunyonyi, one of the most interesting safari stops in western/south-western Uganda. As the name suggests (a place of small birds), Lake Bunyonyi is a stopover point for bird enthusiasts and thus you will head for a dug-out canoe ride on arrival at the Lake.

This journey will lead you to some of the Islands especially Bwama and Punishment Islands where birds can be spotted but also the breathtaking scenery relished. Dinner and overnight is at BirdNest @Bunyonyi Resort (luxury), Bunyonyi Overland Resort (midrange) or Byoona Amagara Island Retreat (budget) and the meal plan is full board.

Day 4: Departure.
