Mount Mikeno is among the 8 Virunga Mountains that lie in the southern sector of Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic Congo. Mikeno Mountain is the second the highest mountain within Congo and thirteen in Africa that stands at a height of 4,437 meters above sea level.
Mountain Mikeno is home to the endangered species of mountain gorillas that found on the slopes of Mikeno Mountain not far from Bukima patrol post in the southern the sector of the Park and 3.4 miles North West of Mount Karisimbi that bordering Rwanda.
