Bwindi and Lake Bunyonyi are a few exceptional attractions located on the Southwestern side of Uganda. In 1991, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park was designated as a National Park in Uganda, and today, its boundaries extend covering 321sq.km of land area. It is largely comprised of a vast Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and other vegetation types, 459 mountain gorillas, with 4 major gorilla tracking regions- Ruhija, Buhoma, Rushaga, and Nkuringo sectors.
Lake Bunyonyi, the deepest water Lake in Uganda is found at an altitude of 1962m, stretching up to 25kms by length and 7kms by width. It is a spectacular water Lake in Uganda, comprising 29 islands some of which will be visited on your gorilla and Lake Bunyonyi tour on 4 days safari in Uganda.

Detailed itinerary
Day 1: To Bwindi National Park for gorilla tracking
Leave Kampala for 8-9 hours journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Southwestern Uganda. Bwindi a home to 459 mountain gorillas will be reached on the Kampala-Masaka-Mbarara-Kabale route and en route, expect to take pictures at Equator crossing and have lunch at Igongo cultural center. Proceed afterward to check-in at the gorilla safari lodges in and at Bwindi.

Day 2: Gorilla tracking
Enjoy a heavy breakfast, then assemble at the Buhoma region or any region depending on the gorilla permit. Get briefed mainly on gorilla tracking rules at Buhoma and the park official will allocate to you already habituated families to track in a group of 8pax. Strictly one habituated gorilla group will be visited per day and the actual visit to see gorillas begins at 8:00 am taking 2-6 hours. The 6 hours of gorilla trek includes one hour for you to learn how they behave or spend their day in the wild and photography then you return to the lodge for an overnight stay.

Day 3: Bwindi-Lake Bunyonyi canoe tours
Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi located in the Kabale district for you to participate in a short canoe ride to the islands on Lake Bunyonyi. It is one of the 3 Lake damned Lakes and it is the country’s deepest lake and in East Africa, the second deepest. Lake Bunyonyi is full of beauty including the culturally and biologically rich islands, etc. Arrive early and undertake a canoe ride on the lake to any of the Lake’s islands while watching some birds. Return to have lunch and the rest of the afternoon relaxing at the cool shores of the lake.

Day 4: Lake Bunyonyi to Kampala or Entebbe
Breakfast early morning will be served to you still at the lodge in Lake Bunyonyi, after, leave Kabale’ Lake Bunyonyi for Kampala. The stopover locations will include a lunch stop in Mbarara then drive to Equator crossing or Mpambire drum makers for another stopover.
